Norway will not participate in the 'Council for Peace' proposed by Donald Trump, citing the need for a more in-depth dialogue with the USA.

The Norwegian government announced that it will not participate in the 'Council for Peace' proposed by American President Donald Trump, as a result of the deterioration of relations between the two countries. Secretary of State Kristoffer Thoner explained that the American proposal raises questions that require a more detailed dialogue with the United States. Norway, a supporter of multilateralism and a mediator in conflicts, believes that the initiative should align with existing structures, such as the UN.

Although it shares Trump's objective of promoting peace in conflict zones, Norway will continue to collaborate with the US and other partners in this regard. The decision comes in the context in which Trump expressed frustration for not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize.
