North Korea has promised a "terrible response" in the event of a new drone incursion from South Korea, after shooting down a South Korean reconnaissance drone near the inter-Korean border in January.
Kim Yo Jong, sister of the North Korean leader, stated that any violation of North Korea's sovereignty is unacceptable. South Korean authorities have launched an investigation, and the offices of the intelligence services in Seoul have been searched. Three civilians have been indicted, and the investigation also includes soldiers and an employee of the South Korean intelligence services. Although South Korea has taken measures following the incident, Kim Yo Jong emphasized that it is essential to prevent such provocations.
North Korea has demanded explanations from Seoul and accused the South of involvement in drone operations, despite denials from the South Korean military. The South Korean president condemned the incident, warning about the risks of armed confrontation.
