North Korea launched several ballistic missiles on Wednesday in the direction of the sea, raising concerns in South Korea, which convened an emergency meeting of the National Security Council.

The missiles were launched from near the city of Wonsan and traveled a distance of 240 km.

The South Korean military detected another launch on Tuesday, considered a technical failure. South Korea condemned these actions as provocative and in contradiction with UN resolutions.

Additionally, a North Korean official stated that Pyongyang will not change its perception of South Korea as an enemy, highlighting the persistent tensions between the two nations.

“The identity of the ROK, the most hostile enemy state towards the DPRK, cannot be changed by words or behavior,” said Jang Kum Chol, a senior official of North Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This complicated situation reflects a continuation of hostilities in the region, despite previous attempts to de-escalate relations.
