North Korea has declared that "denuclearization" of the country is a definitively closed issue, emphasizing that its position as a nuclear-armed state is irreversible.
A spokesperson for the North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the rhetoric of the U.S. and its allies, stating that these discussions will not affect the nuclear status of the DPRK. The statement was broadcast by the state news agency KCNA. This comes in the context of last week, when American and South Korean officials discussed strengthening nuclear deterrence and military preparedness during meetings in Seoul, organized by the Nuclear Consultative Group (NCG), in response to North Korea's expanding weapons program.
