Finland's capital, Helsinki, has achieved a unique record of having no fatal accidents in the last 12 months, despite a high number of tourists. The success is due to 30km/h speed limits, the implementation of road safety policies and improved infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists. Studies show that reducing speed significantly reduces accidents and fatalities. Helsinki has thus managed to reduce accidents by 9% and maintain a safer urban environment.
