On July 1, the European Parliament and the European Council agreed on rules to improve road safety by introducing a digital license and a probation period of at least two years for new drivers. These measures aim to better prepare drivers for real traffic conditions and raise awareness of the risks. The minimum age for obtaining driving licenses for trucks and buses will also be lowered and licenses will be valid for 15 years. Medical checks will be required before first license, with self-assessment options for renewal.
