Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, declared that he has ordered the army to ignore the terms of the ceasefire from October and to extend control over the Gaza Strip to 70%. In a conference in the West Bank, Netanyahu stated that Israel currently controls 60% of the territory and emphasized that he intends to reach 70%.
These statements come in the context of ongoing violence in Gaza, where Israeli attacks have not ceased. The ceasefire, established on October 10 under U.S. pressure, was meant to facilitate the release of hostages and the disarmament of Hamas, but progress in this direction is stagnant.
Netanyahu also mentioned that Israel will not respect the yellow demarcation line established by the ceasefire, which has raised concerns about the humanitarian situation of the over two million Palestinians in Gaza, which remains critical. International NGOs have warned that Israel is not fulfilling its legal obligations in this regard.
