The American Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, stated that Ukraine and Russia must agree to reach a peace deal, highlighting the progress made in negotiations, but also that there is still much work to be done. Diplomatic negotiations have been accelerated recently, but no ceasefire has been reached, in the context where Russia continues its attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, causing casualties.

Donald Trump and other American officials have pressed for rapid progress, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky mentioned progress in discussions with the U.S., but warned that Russia is preparing for another year of war. The U.S. has proposed a revised plan to end the conflict, involving territorial concessions from Ukraine in exchange for security guarantees.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia has accepted compromises and that it now depends on Ukraine and its allies to act.
