NATO military chiefs are meeting on Tuesday to discuss the urgent need to increase arms production, considering the massive consumption of high-quality ammunition by the U.S. Army in Iran, writes Euronews.

In the context of the extensive U.S. military campaign in Iran, NATO allies are expressing concern about the impact on the stockpiles of next-generation weapons, including interceptors.

At Tuesday's meeting of NATO military chiefs, the urgent need to increase arms production will be discussed, considering the massive consumption of high-quality ammunition by the U.S. military, which has cost over 29 billion dollars so far.

Allies are concerned that essential military equipment for the alliance's security cannot be rebuilt quickly enough to keep pace with U.S. consumption rates.

The summit will be led by the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), General Alexus G. Grynkewich, with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also attending, while participants will analyze the effects of this consumption on NATO's collective capabilities in the context of threats from Russia.

Donald Trump announced on Monday a postponement of the scheduled attack on Iran, citing ongoing negotiations, but emphasized that the U.S. military is prepared for a large-scale action if negotiations fail.
