A truck loaded with over 18 tons of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer was stolen from an Anheuser-Busch distribution center in Montclair, California, after someone used falsified documents to pick up the shipment destined for the city of San Diego. The shipment, valued at approximately $25,000, contained around 40,000 pounds of beer.

Pabst Brewing Company has launched a public campaign to recover the truck and is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information helpful to the investigation. In a humorous message, the company told the thief to return the shipment within 18 days and 44 minutes, no questions asked. The time period refers to the year 1844, when the company was founded.

The beer theft occurred approximately one hour after another shipment, valued at $45,000 and picked up using fraudulent documents, disappeared. Police are checking whether the two cases are part of the same operation. Investigators have identified discrepancies in the information about the carrier, driver, and vehicles. Pabst beer is produced by Anheuser-Busch under contract, although the two companies are separate.
