Warsaw/Modlin Airport was closed on Tuesday until further notice after a Boeing 737 MAX aircraft from London made an emergency landing following an alert about a possible bomb on board. The aircraft was supposed to arrive at Warsaw’s “Frédéric Chopin” Airport.
The alarm was triggered at 9:54 a.m. for the flight operating on the London Heathrow–Warsaw Chopin route. Seven minutes later, at 10:01 a.m., the aircraft landed at Modlin Airport.
There were 181 people on board, and the aircraft had approximately 3.7 tonnes of fuel. After landing, the plane was directed to a special area, where bomb disposal teams and other relevant services began their checks.
Authorities are carrying out operations to determine whether the threat is real and to ensure the safety of people at the airport. Until the intervention is completed, airport operations remain suspended, and passengers are affected by the security measures put in place.
