Romania is not lacking in creativity, but it needs to become better at recognizing, connecting and supporting it, Mirabela Grădinaru, the partner of President Nicușor Dan, said on Monday at the “Creative Romania: Observatory & Laboratory of Creative Ecologies” roundtable. The event took place at the “Carol I” Central University Library as part of Romanian Creative Week X Bucharest.
Grădinaru argued that the development of creative industries depends on collaboration between fields, institutions and communities. She stressed that Romania must capitalize on both its heritage and tradition, as well as technology and innovation, transforming ideas into solutions for society.
In her view, creative industries can contribute to reinventing cities, promoting talent and creating opportunities for young people. She said that imagination, courage and the ability to innovate can become strategic advantages, especially in the age of artificial intelligence.
Presidential adviser Valentin-Sorin Costreie said that Romania has “islands of creativity,” but that they need to be connected. He called for changing the education system, starting in kindergarten, to foster curiosity and provide children with role models.
The roundtable brought together representatives of the arts, fashion, film, music, architecture and culture. Romanian Creative Week X Bucharest runs until October 8.
