Military aircraft KC-135 crashed in Iraq, attack claimed by pro-Iran groups

An American military refueling aircraft KC-135 crashed Thursday in western Iraq, in an incident involving two aircraft, according to the U.S. Central Command. Authorities stated that the crash was not caused by hostile or friendly fire. There were six military personnel on board the aircraft, and rescue operations are underway.

The incident occurred during Operation Epic Fury, which targets Iran's activities in the region. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a group supported by Iran, claimed responsibility for shooting down the aircraft, stating that it acted to protect national sovereignty. The KC-135, essential for the aerial refueling of American forces, has been involved in missions in the Middle East, where the U.S. has deployed a large number of aircraft in attacks against Iran.
