On Tuesday, a military transport plane An-22 crashed in the Ivanovo region, about 200 km northeast of Moscow, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. The incident occurred during a test flight, after repair work, and the plane fell into an uninhabited area, possibly into the waters of a nearby reservoir. The ministry announced that it has no information about the fate of the crew, but a rescue team is heading to the crash site to check for survivors.
Anonymous sources from emergency services suggest that there were seven people on board the plane, and Russian Telegram channels claim that all have died. Authorities have not yet indicated any connection of the incident to the war in Ukraine.
