A Turkish AT-802 aircraft, intended for fighting forest fires, crashed in Croatia, and the pilot died, announced the Turkish Minister of Forestry, Ibrahim Yumakli. The accident occurred on Thursday, while two planes were returning to Turkey after being forced to spend the night at Rijeka airport due to bad weather.
One of the planes managed to land, but radio contact with the other was lost. The cockpit of the crashed aircraft was found near the town of Senj. This incident comes just two days after the crash of a military C-130 in Georgia, resulting in the death of 20 people. An investigation is underway, and flights of these military aircraft have been suspended.
