Giorgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of Italy, stated that she does not believe that the United States would resort to military force to take control of Greenland, emphasizing that such an action would have serious consequences for NATO. During the press conference at the beginning of the year, Meloni highlighted the need for a significant NATO presence in the Arctic.
Although a recent American military operation in Venezuela has raised concerns about Washington's intentions towards Greenland, Meloni stated that a military action would not be in anyone's interest, including that of the United States. At the same time, she acknowledged the importance of strengthening NATO's presence in the Arctic to prevent interference from other hostile actors.
