Thomas Markle Sr., Meghan Markle’s father, was detained in Florida following an investigation into suspicious images involving minors

Thomas Markle Sr., Meghan Markle’s father, was detained by federal agents at a senior living facility in Lakeland, Florida, amid an investigation opened in the Philippines into alleged child sexual abuse materials.

The arrest, confirmed to the New York Post by sources close to the case, was initially reported by the Daily Mail. Cebu police were investigating the allegations after Thomas Markle Jr., the man’s son, allegedly discovered hundreds or even thousands of suspicious images in the family home. He claims that some of the materials depicted alleged abuse of girls approximately 10–11 years old and says he handed them over to the authorities.

Later, the Daily Mail reported that a journalist had allegedly found other suspicious materials in an abandoned storage space in Mexico associated with Thomas Markle Sr. The details are the subject of the investigation, and the allegations have not been confirmed by a conviction.

Thomas Markle Sr. categorically denies the allegations and claims that his son’s accusations are lies. Samantha Markle, Meghan’s half-sister, defended him and stated that Thomas Markle Jr. is seeking financial benefits.

Meghan Markle said that she is deeply distressed and that the authorities’ priority must be protecting minors. Her father, who has been diagnosed with dementia, left the Philippines in May after suffering a stroke and having his left leg amputated.
