Meghan Markle’s father investigated for possession of child pornography

Meghan Markle stated that she had known since 2018 about suspicions regarding possible abuse of children allegedly involving her father, Thomas Markle. The reaction comes after he was reported to Philippine police for allegedly possessing child pornography.

Thomas Markle Jr., the Duchess of Sussex’s brother, claims that he found several boxes containing “hundreds, if not thousands” of images at the family’s home in Cebu and alerted the authorities. He said that he would no longer speak to his father unless he was called to testify.

In a statement issued on Friday, Meghan Markle said that in 2018 she received a letter containing allegations against her father after it had been sent to London’s Metropolitan Police. The Duchess said that the information deeply affected her and that she was told at the time that it was being investigated.

Meghan explained that these suspicions were among the reasons why she kept her distance from her father and did not allow him to meet his grandchildren. Thomas Markle denied the allegations, calling them “sick lies.”
