Dmitri Medvedev, Vice President of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, stated that in 2025, 422,704 people signed contracts with the Russian armed forces, a decrease from 450,000 in 2024. Medvedev made these statements during a meeting about drone technology, also emphasizing that 32,000 people joined volunteer brigades to fight in Ukraine. He also mentioned that the Russian army has suffered significant losses in the conflict in Ukraine, without achieving notable territorial gains.
The Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrski, confirmed that the Ukrainian strategy aims to inflict maximum losses on Russian forces. Despite the losses, Russian officials claim that they have not encountered difficulties in recruiting volunteers for the war.
