On Friday, thousands of people took to the streets in Minneapolis, and students from across the USA organized strikes and protests to demand the withdrawal of federal immigration agents from Minnesota, following the fatal shootings of two American citizens by ICE agents. This national day of protest was marked by massive absences from schools, with participants from California to New York.

President Trump sent 3,000 federal agents to Minneapolis, which generated severe criticism. Protesters, including teachers and activists, condemned the agents' tactics, and musician Bruce Springsteen held a concert in memory of the two shooting victims. Across the country, 250 demonstrations took place under the slogan "No work. No school. No shopping. Stop funding ICE." The immigration controversy threatens to generate a budget impasse in Washington, and public support for the Trump administration's immigration policy has significantly decreased. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz called for the withdrawal of federal forces, while the White House border coordinator promised a return to more restrained operations.
