NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, will travel to Washington on Tuesday to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump, according to a statement from the Alliance. Rutte's visit will last until Wednesday, and the meeting comes after a "difficult" discussion between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Although the details of the meeting's agenda have not been disclosed, Rutte has prepared this visit in the context of international tensions. The meeting was planned before the White House canceled a scheduled summit between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest.
