Mario Draghi, former Prime Minister of Italy and former President of the European Central Bank, warned that the European Union risks deindustrialization and losing global influence if it does not become a strong federation. In a speech delivered in Belgium, the economist emphasized that the current political fragmentation in areas such as defense and industry makes Europe vulnerable in the face of major powers.

Nicknamed "Super Mario" for his role in saving the eurozone, Draghi argues that the EU must choose between remaining a simple market or becoming a unified power capable of defending its economic interests.
