The partnership aims to explore opportunities in small modular nuclear power plants (SMRs), with the UK committing £2.5 billion to the project. SMRs, which can be manufactured and transported more easily, are seen as a solution to energy security and climate targets. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer emphasized the importance of this collaboration for British engineering and technology exports. Czech manufacturer ČEZ will take a stake in the Rolls Royce SMR business, planning to deploy 3 gigawatts of installed capacity in the Czech Republic.
