The initiative, dubbed 'Made for Germany', was presented to Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who emphasized that private investment is essential to achieve the investment tasks. The sum includes spending on capital, research and international commitments, but it is not clear how many of these are new. Siemens CEO Siemens called for more freedom for innovation, while economist Clemens Fuest warned about the long-term sustainability of the program.
