Germany is preparing to approve a military procurement package worth over 3.47 billion dollars, which includes the purchase of 20 light combat helicopters produced by Airbus SE, according to a government document cited by Bloomberg News. German lawmakers are expected to vote on this package in a closed-door session scheduled for Wednesday.
In addition to the contract with Airbus, the package also includes an agreement of approximately 1 billion euros with Hensoldt AG and Theon International for the supply of 100,000 night vision devices intended for the German armed forces. This decision is part of Berlin's efforts to rapidly modernize its defense capabilities, in the context of rising tensions in Europe and commitments to strengthen NATO's eastern flank.
