French President Emmanuel Macron will arrive in Beijing on December 3, with the main objective of pressuring his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, to facilitate a ceasefire in Ukraine. This is Macron's fourth visit to China since 2017, and the meetings will take place at the Great Hall of the People, including with Premier Li Qiang. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot emphasized the importance of China in influencing Russia to accept a ceasefire, considering that Beijing has not condemned the Russian invasion of 2022. Macron will stress the necessity for China not to support Russia in continuing the war. This visit comes after a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who called for Europe's support in the face of Russian challenges.
