In a discussion lasting more than two hours, Macron called for a ceasefire in Ukraine and negotiations to end the conflict. Putin reiterated that the war is a consequence of the West's policy and emphasized the need for a peace agreement based on new territorial realities. The two leaders also discussed Iran, agreeing on the need to respect Iran's right to nuclear development and its international obligations. Macron emphasized France's support for Ukraine's sovereignty and expressed the desire to find diplomatic solutions to the problems in the region.
