Emmanuel Macron will be received on Friday at the Vatican by Pope Leo XIV, marking the first meeting between the two, almost a year after the election of the first American pope. The audience takes place in the context of the war in the Middle East, where both leaders advocate for diplomatic solutions. This will be the fourth papal audience for the French president, who previously met with Pope Francis in 2018, 2021, and 2022.

The visit is described as a "republican and secular visit," during which topics such as multilateralism, the regulation of artificial intelligence, as well as climate and humanitarian challenges will be discussed.
