In central London on Saturday, police arrested 466 protesters in central London who expressed their support for Palestine Action, a group recently banned by the British government. The protests took place in Parliament Square, where demonstrators were warned that support for the organization is illegal. Although police said there were other arrests for criminal offenses, no one was seriously injured. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper backed the police action, while Amnesty International criticized the arrests as a violation of freedom of expression.
