Counterterrorism officers in London have arrested a 60-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman suspected of providing support to Iran’s foreign intelligence service. The two were detained after searches carried out on June 24 at properties in north and northwest London, and on September 9 police searched a third address.
The investigation is being conducted under the National Security Act and is unrelated to the recent incidents targeting locations associated with London’s Iranian and Jewish communities. The suspects have been released on bail until October. Police say there is no imminent threat to the public, but are urging people to remain vigilant.
