Starting at 15:00 GMT, Latvia will close its airspace in a 50-kilometer zone from the borders with Russia and Belarus, a measure imposed after recent incursions of Russian drones in Poland. Commercial flights at altitudes above 6,000 meters will not be affected. The Latvian Minister of Defense mentioned the intensification of preparations for air defense units and the installation of advanced sensors for drone detection. The measure coincides with the military exercises "Zapad" conducted by Russia and Belarus, but these have not been officially cited as the reason.
