The Kirishinefteorgsintez refinery in Russia has suspended processing activities after being attacked by Ukrainian drones, causing significant damage and a fire. Industry sources have confirmed that three of the four distillation units were affected, and estimates regarding the time needed for repairs are uncertain.
The refinery, located nearly 800 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, has been the target of several drone attacks this year, including a recent major attack.
The refinery's processing capacity is 20 million metric tons per year, equivalent to approximately 400,000 barrels per day, representing about 7% of the total oil refining volume in Russia. The governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drojdenko, confirmed the fire that broke out in the industrial area of the city of Kirishi.
