At the state dinner organized by Melania Trump, King Charles III paid tribute to the relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom, eliciting laughter with his jokes. In his speech, he quoted Oscar Wilde, stating that the two nations have almost everything in common, except for the language. Another joke was related to Donald Trump's claim that without the USA, Europeans would speak German, to which Charles replied that without the British, Americans would speak French.

The monarch referred to the shared history of the two countries, even evoking the British attempts to "redecorate" the White House in 1814. He also presented President Trump with a bell from the submarine 'HMS Trump', highlighting the historical connection between the nations. Trump appreciated the King's speech, emphasizing its impact on the congressmen.

The royal visit coincides with the 250th anniversary of American independence, marking an important milestone in bilateral relations.
