The eruption began on Friday evening, when the southern vent generated lava jets that reached heights of approximately 150 meters. At 10:00 PM, the lava fountain in the south reached nearly 450 meters, while the one in the north reached 330 meters, setting records for this eruption.
The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory has confirmed that the lava fountains continue to erupt from both vents. Volcanic fragments have also been reported in the area, and fine ash and volcanic glass could affect a large area of Ka'u, in the south of Mauna Loa island.
