At the Lennart Meri Conference in Tallinn, Kaja Kallas, head of the European Union's foreign policy, stated that the Trump administration does not support a united European Union, as such a structure represents a geopolitical power that the U.S. must confront. Kallas emphasized the importance of unity in the face of external challenges, stating that the division of the bloc could weaken its position.
She warned that some countries in the EU seem to be moving towards concluding bilateral agreements with the U.S., which could undermine European cohesion. Kallas highlighted that external powers, such as the U.S., China, and Russia, want to dismantle the EU to make it more vulnerable. Regarding the relationship with China, Kallas mentioned that Europe has a clear diagnosis but has not reached a consensus on solutions. She proposed using the EU's economic tools, although she acknowledged that this could provoke retaliation. Kallas emphasized that unity is essential to maintain the strength of the European bloc on the international stage.
