Jerusalem will be expanded in the West Bank for the first time since 1967, according to a new colonization project announced by the Israeli press. The organization Peace Now has emphasized that this project marks a de facto annexation of the territory, considering that there are Palestinian communities living in the area. The construction of over 2,700 housing units is expected near the Adam settlement, and the project could be implemented in a few years. Although the plan is officially presented as an extension of the Adam settlement, there is no territorial connection between it and the proposed neighborhood, which would extend the Neve Yaakov settlement, considered part of East Jerusalem. Peace Now accuses that this measure is a pretext to apply Israeli sovereignty over certain areas in the West Bank.
