The Vice President of the USA, JD Vance, arrived on Saturday, April 11, in Pakistan, where negotiations are taking place between the United States and Iran to end the war in the Middle East. Vance, who leads the American delegation, was welcomed by the chief of the Pakistani army, Asim Munir, and the foreign minister, Ishaq Dar, at Nur Khan airbase, near Islamabad. The US delegation also includes the special envoy of President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, and the son-in-law of the White House leader, Jared Kushner. The Iranian delegation, led by the president of parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, and the foreign minister, Abbas Araqchi, arrived on Friday. These negotiations represent the highest-level discussions between the US and Iran since the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and the first official face-to-face since 2015, when an agreement was reached regarding Iran's nuclear program.
Vance stated that he will collaborate with Iran if it acts in good faith, but warned that the US will not be receptive if Iran tries to deceive. Additionally, an official mentioned that Lebanon will participate in discussions with Israel only under the conditions of a ceasefire, and President Trump criticized Tehran for its handling of the Strait of Hormuz.
