The Prime Minister of Japan, Sanae Takaichi, declared on Saturday in Vietnam that Japan will play a more active role in ensuring a free and open Asia-Pacific region. In her speech, Takaichi emphasized Japan's responsibility to contribute to an international order based on freedom and the rule of law, in the context of intensifying geopolitical competition.

She urged Asian countries to strengthen their resilience and capacity to determine their own future, in the face of challenges posed by China. Takaichi signed agreements to strengthen cooperation in the field of energy security and supply chains.

She also highlighted the importance of free navigation on maritime routes. The two countries agreed to develop a strategic partnership, aimed at addressing issues in the South China Sea through peaceful means, respecting international law. This visit underscores Japan's commitment to countering China's influence in the region.
