Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced that it recorded a loss of 485 million pounds in the second quarter of the year, following a severe cyber attack that disrupted vehicle production. In comparison, during the same period in 2024, the company had a profit of nearly 400 million pounds. Additionally, JLR reported a loss of 134 million pounds for the first six months until the end of September, compared to a profit of 1.1 billion pounds in the previous year. CEO Adrian Mardell emphasized that financial performance was affected by significant challenges, including the cyber attack that halted production in September and tariffs imposed by the U.S. The total costs related to the cyber attack amounted to 196 million pounds. This incident is considered the most damaging cyber attack in the UK, estimated to have cost the national economy 1.9 billion pounds, affecting approximately 5,000 businesses. Production at factories in the UK was suspended for five weeks, and suppliers warned that many of them risk bankruptcy without a quick resumption of activity or financial aid.
