The cyber attack on Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) had a significant economic impact on the United Kingdom, costing approximately £1.9 billion and affecting over 5,000 organizations, according to a report from the Cyber Monitoring Centre (CMC). JLR's production was halted for more than a month, and the British government announced support measures for the company and its supply chain, in the context where some suppliers are facing financial difficulties. Weekly losses due to the production halt are estimated at £50 million.
JLR, owned by Tata Motors, has three factories in the UK, which together produce approximately 1,000 cars a day. The attack was classified by the CMC as a systemic event of category 3, and authorities announced a loan guarantee of £1.5 billion to support the company. JLR's factories employ around 30,000 people, and another 100,000 work in the supply chain, highlighting the economic importance of the company in the region.
