"Independence of solidarity", a concept that can help in defending the country

The introduction of the term "solidarity independence" in the National Defense Strategy of the country is a promising innovation for both us and our allies. Let me explain:
❗️For too long, precisely for about 20 years, a harmful sentiment has been instilled in Romania, both at the level of elites and the population, that now, because we are in NATO, we do not have to do anything for our defense, because, isn't it so, NATO defends us...
❗️For about 20 years, we forget that the first line of NATO defense on Romanian territory is us. Before the protection of any ally, NATO is us! And for that, we need both advanced technical capabilities that cost a lot, thus requiring popular support and political will, but also a resilient population, engaged in defending its own country and not fleeing at the first threat, as recently urged by a well-known rocker who has aged poorly.
❗️I hope that the idea of "solidarity independence" will translate for the elites, but especially for the population, into a new national narrative in which the emphasis will fall on the need for a profound strengthening of Romania's defense, primarily with its own means, on all relevant fronts - military aggressions, informational aggressions, but also strategic internal vulnerabilities that undermine our ability to defend together with the willingness of citizens to fight. You cannot stimulate engaged, real patriotism, not the stridently shouted one from demagogic platforms, if the country does not offer its citizens at least a real sense of justice in society.
❗️And in the end, our allies, all allies, will be more than happy to discover a strong Romania with a solid defense capability and a population willing to defend itself and contribute to the defense of allies with all these strengthened means.
