Italy has decided to withdraw from the international fleet escorting aid to Gaza, in order to avoid a diplomatic incident with Israel.

The Italian Ministry of Defense has announced that the Italian frigate will stop accompanying the international flotilla 150 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza, to prevent tensions with Israel. The flotilla, named "Global Sumud", includes over 40 vessels with activists and parliamentarians, including Greta Thunberg, aiming to break the Israeli blockade. Italy has already informed the activists about the ship's withdrawal, which will issue two warnings before retreating.
