Italy has managed to thwart a series of cyberattacks of Russian origin, targeting sites associated with the Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, according to statements by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.

These attacks included sites of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, such as the one in Washington, and hotels in Cortina d'Ampezzo. Starting from January 26, the Italian police specialized in cybersecurity has been active to protect critical infrastructure and monitor networks, aiming to prevent terrorist threats.

This activity aligns with strategies for protecting IT infrastructure and maintaining public order. It is also mentioned that Russia will participate with a limited team in the Olympics, competing under a neutral flag, as a result of the sanctions imposed after the invasion of Ukraine.
