Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Italy will need at least 10 years to increase its military spending to the new levels set at the NATO summit. He stressed the importance of a strong European defense, combining European and American resources. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has also proposed increasing defense budgets to 5% of GDP, raising concerns among some member states, such as Spain, which see the increase as arbitrary.
