<p>Extreme heat in southern Europe has led to devastating fires in Italy, France, Spain and Greece. In Tuscany, a fire forced the evacuation of 600 tourists and flames approached Olbia airport, causing the diversion and cancellation of several flights. In Sardinia, rapid intervention by firefighters was crucial in limiting the damage. Italy is under heatwave code red and the effects are still being felt.
