Amichai Chikli, Israeli minister for the diaspora, called for the removal of Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, describing him as a terrorist. This was a reaction after Israeli shelling on the town of Suwayda, where inter-communal clashes took place. Chikli compared the Syrian regime to Hamas and stressed the need to fight against it. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich also criticized the Damascus regime, saying Israel cannot allow a withdrawal from Syria.
