Israel carried out the most intense airstrikes in recent weeks in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of 26 people, according to Reuters. Among the targets of the attacks were a police station run by Hamas, an apartment, and a tent camp in Khan Younis, which shelters displaced Palestinians. Since the implementation of the US-mediated ceasefire in October, which followed two years of conflict, over 500 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in Gaza.

At the same time, Palestinian militants attacked Israeli soldiers, resulting in the deaths of four of them. Both sides have accused each other of violating the ceasefire, despite pressure from Washington to advance the peace process. In this context, the main access gate to Gaza, the Rafah crossing with Egypt, is expected to reopen on Sunday.
