The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Monday that they killed a high-ranking commander of the Quds Force, Asghar Bagheri, in an airstrike on Tehran. Bagheri, who has led the Special Operations Unit of the Quds Force since 2019, is the latest in a series of high-ranking Iranian officials who have been eliminated since the beginning of the conflict.
IDF stated that Bagheri played a significant role in the external operations of the IRGC and was involved in attacks against Israelis and Americans. Under his command, the unit also conducted operations targeting IDF soldiers at the Syrian-Israeli border.
The statement regarding Bagheri's killing came after another Iranian security official, Major General Majid Khademi, was killed on the same day. So far, there has been no reaction from the authorities in Tehran.
