A Cypriot government source has confirmed that drones manufactured in Iran, which targeted the British military base at Akrotiri in Cyprus, were launched from Lebanon, likely by the Hezbollah group.

One of the drones hit a runway, and the British Ministry of Defence did not immediately confirm this information, with the assessment ongoing. The attack occurred on Sunday evening and represents the first attack on a country in the European Union since the beginning of the conflict generated by the American-Israeli airstrikes.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated in Parliament that the British bases in Cyprus are not used by the United States, emphasizing that the attack was not a response to recent decisions by the British government. Starmer mentioned that the drone was launched before the announcement regarding the use of the bases by the US.
