Iran has threatened to open a new front in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a crucial shipping route between the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, in the event of a U.S. ground invasion.
According to a military source quoted by the Iranian news agency Tasnim, Iran has the will and the necessary capability to generate a credible threat against this strategic route. This strait is essential for international maritime traffic, including access to the Suez Canal. The military official emphasized that any American ground action on Iranian territory or naval maneuvers in the Persian Gulf will prompt Iran to respond by opening other fronts, thus bringing a "surprise" to the enemy.
